The Power of Growth Mindset

Yesterday was our first day back! I enjoyed seeing all the faces light up with curiosity and joy for the new beginning! But, at the end of the day I did feel exhausted, like any Monday! :)

But something truly great happened that Monday evening. I joined the Twitter #PLN (Professional Learning Network) hashtag #growthmindset and it changed my vision for this year. Thank you Kelly Mendoza for hosting the PLN last night! :)

For those that don't know, I'm a librarian at a Title 1, elementary campus. Some of our kids are well-rounded, with middle class income families. And some, are not as fortunate. But regardless of income, I practice the belief that you can ALWAYS be rich in thought...that's where growth mindset comes in to play. In an effort to promote literacy, I think establishing a healthy thought process is an understated foundation for literacy. This year I plan to do my part and help grow mentally healthy and literate scholars!

And to go along with my SIOP training--Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol--I've a visual graphic for our differentiation. :)

Here are some of the campus decorations I'm promoting with growth mindset. I get my inspiration from this tweet:

Last, but not least, here's a slideshow regarding the benefits on supporting a growth mindset:
